New ordinance in Overland Park may further restrict parking of vehicles.

The city of Overland Park's elected officials will review and consider enactment of a new ordinance further restricting and limiting the parking of RVs, boats and hauling trailers.

The prohibition of parking or storing vehicles in a residential area will apply to any vehicle or trailer taller than eight feet unless:

• It was in lawful ownership of a resident of the city prior to Feb. 1, 2007,
• It was lawfully stored or parked at the owner’s residence within the city prior to Feb. 1, 2007,
• After Feb. 1 it is parked and stored in full compliance with the new requirements,
• It is registered as a non-conforming item with the city prior to July 30, 2007, and
• The exceptions to the prohibition shall terminate upon the death or relocation of the current owner and shall not pass with any transfer of title or will.
